Apps4Curaçao Part 2
Stimul-it has started in September 2012 a two year stimulation program for the media and IT industries. This program has several purposes:
After the kick off on September 5th Conference Creating New Business, we now proudly present our second event: the pressure cooker week Apps4Curaçao. In many ways this event can offer you substantial business advantages!
What is Apps4Curaçao?
The pressure cooker week Apps4Curaçao will take place between 3 and 8 March. In this week about 45 Curaçao professionals will be working in multidisciplinary teams under high pressure on the realization of mobile applications for various clients. Each team consists of 6-9 professionals and is a mix of marketeers, concept developers, designers, technical developers and communication professionals.
From Sunday till Friday afternoon all ins and outs of today mobile applications will be discussed, experienced, thrown away and re-invented: does html 5 suit my business goals better than an app; how to visualize all those tons of data; how do I know whether open data are copyright free? All these questions and a thousand more will pass the revue during Apps4Curacao.
All participants work completely voluntarily on Apps4Curacao, just because they want to share knowledge with each other and are eager to learn new skills.
The case clients are local companies and institutions from different branches, all in urgent need to have their own app to offer services to, and have interaction with their target audience by smartphones or tablets. Therefor they handed in a case for which a designated team develops a working prototype app in just one week.
The week consists of plenary lectures, advanced specialist workshops, preliminary pitch moments and inspiration sessions. At the end of the week the working prototypes will be presented in a final pitch to the case clients.
After the pressure cooker week the case client may decide to finish the production of the prototype in a full working app with his own case team.
All participants also get the opportunity to participate in a self-assessment instrument called MDI and free feedback sessions by Syntens. This instrument gives you detailed insight in your personal and professional development: what makes you tick?
Apps4Curaçao is organized by Stimul-IT. Experts from TNO, iMMovator, Syntens and De Waag Society (engineering and design, famous for their Apps voor Nederland, Apps On) are responsible for the working sessions and lectures.

What do we need from you as participant?
- Willingness to share with other professionals
- Inspiration, creativity, curiosity and time
You are a professional in one of the following areas:
- Concept developer/creative strategist
- Interaction designer or graphic designer with experience in object oriënt coding
- Developer/programmer experienced in C++, java, and/or HTML5
- Business developer
- Marketeer or communication manager
Please note that if you are a programmer or designer without the mentioned experience the Apps4Curacao pressure cooker week might be hard to follow.
