Welcome to the EPIC-WE Game Jam – an immersive event where young talents will embark on a thrilling journey to create a game within just 2 days! Dive into the world of game design, as you explore themes around culturally sensitive topics such as climate change or media bias using cultural heritage and audiovisual material. This experience not only offers the chance to build a network and portfolio but also provides valuable insights into new design thinking methods, alongside opportunities to connect with game designers and professionals.

Program Highlights:

Day 1: Explore themes, form teams, and develop concepts. Pitch your ideas to an expert council for feedback. Spend the evening crafting a paper prototype, with the option to continue working overnight within the inspiring surroundings of the Sound & Vision building.
Day 2: Test prototypes, apply feedback, and fine-tune your game. Conclude the Game Jam with final pitches, followed by a celebratory gathering.

Practical Information:

  • Language: The official communication will be in English, but feel free to mix Dutch and English during the event. Basic English proficiency is recommended but not mandatory.
  • Free Admission: The EPIC-WE Game Jam is free of charge.
  • Age Range: Participants aged 20-24 are invited to join this exciting creative venture.
  • Registration Deadline: Friday, March 15th

The Hilversum Hub, a dynamic collaboration in the Netherlands, unites key partners: Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) as a higher education research entity, Dropstuff representing the creative industries, and the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision (NISV) as a cultural-heritage partner, bringing together expertise in value-sensitive design, cultural sensitivity, and societal belonging.

About EPIC-WE
EPIC-WE is a Horizon Europe-funded project aiming to empower young people to participate in shaping European Culture and their own future by ‘imagining, creating and exchanging cultural values and heritage through game-making’. It focuses on exploring and developing new models for cultural collaboration, empowered participation, cultural processes and design kits for games through and for culture which can help establish culture hubs across Europe.
